The Rwenzururu Kingdom in Kasese has announced the postponement of its 60th coronation anniversary celebration for King Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma. This marks the second consecutive year the significant event has been called off.

The anniversary, originally slated for October 19, 2026, has been rescheduled to November 14. The new date will coincide with the King’s birthday run, according to a statement from the Kingdom.

The primary reason cited for the postponement is the Omusinga’s ongoing medical appointments in Turkey. This recurring absence from major public events has revived questions among the King’s subjects regarding the future of one of the Kingdom’s most important cultural ceremonies and the King’s overall well-being.

King Mumbere has been absent from public view for extended periods since his release from detention in October 2023. The repeated cancellations of the anniversary highlight a growing concern about the King’s health and its impact on the Kingdom’s traditional observances. The Kingdom is hopeful that the November date will proceed as planned, allowing subjects to celebrate their monarch.

This latest postponement continues to fuel speculation and discussion within the Kingdom and among its followers, who eagerly anticipate the return of their King to lead these vital cultural events.
