Anita Among's Former X Account Rebranded to Global Africa Brief

The official X account of former Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, has been dramatically altered, vanishing from its previous identity under the handle @AnitahAmong and reappearing as @GlobalAfricaHQ, branded as ‘Global Africa Brief’. The rebranding, noticed on October 11th, has effectively wiped the account’s history, leaving its previous communications inaccessible.

This sudden transformation has ignited questions about the account’s fate. It is unclear whether Among or her team willingly transferred control, if the account was sold, or if it was compromised. Neither Among nor her representatives have offered any public explanation for the change.

The account, created in November 2020, appears to have kept some original profile identifiers despite the name and handle shift. This adds another layer of mystery to the situation.

The development occurs several months after Among withdrew her candidacy for Speaker of the 12th Parliament amidst investigations into allegations of corruption and money laundering. Security agencies had previously conducted searches related to inquiries into her assets.

Among’s tenure as Speaker began in March 2022, and she stepped down from the race in May 2026. Her communication via social media has previously been a topic of discussion. At one point, she disavowed certain posts circulating under her name on X, claiming they were fake, though she continued to use the account, with some suggesting an administrator managed part of its activity.

The current rebranding leaves the public and observers speculating about who was in control before the change and who is now operating the ‘Global Africa Brief’ account. While some original identifiers remain, there’s no confirmation of hacking, sale, or voluntary transfer.
