Salam Charity Uganda, affiliated with Salam TV, has initiated the construction of a much-needed solar-powered water well in the Kakubo area of Butambala District. This project comes in response to direct appeals from residents facing significant challenges in accessing clean and safe drinking water.
The new facility will be located at a local mosque, aiming to provide easy access to water for worshippers and the broader community. Access to clean water is a cornerstone of Salam Charity’s mission, with previous successful projects implemented in districts like Mukono, Katakwi, and Ntungamo.
Estimated to cost over Shs15 million, the solar-powered system is designed for efficiency and sustainability. Salam Charity relies on contributions from well-wishers, particularly through Sadaqatul Jaria, which enables the establishment of long-term community benefits.
Abdussalaam Ali Kinobe, Country Director for Salam Charity Uganda, highlighted that the design will allow multiple people to draw water simultaneously, significantly improving convenience and reducing wait times. The organization emphasizes its commitment to modern, sustainable water solutions.
Completion of the Kakubo well is anticipated within three weeks. Salam Charity continues to receive numerous requests from communities grappling with water shortages across Uganda and actively seeks partnerships with donors to expand its reach.
Through direct engagement with local communities, Salam Charity effectively identifies pressing needs and facilitates connections between donors and those who will benefit from their generosity. Beyond water provision, their initiatives encompass orphanage support, mosque construction, educational programs, and aid for religious leaders, reflecting a holistic approach to community development.
