Namagabi Secondary School embraced Uganda’s 64th Independence Day not with mere ceremony, but with tangible community engagement. Students and staff participated in a clean-up drive across sections of Kayunga Town, emphasizing the importance of hygiene and sanitation.

Complementing the environmental efforts, the school extended its generosity to Kangulumira Health Centre IV. They provided essential donations to expectant mothers and those who had recently given birth, underscoring a commitment to maternal well-being.

Headteacher Yusuf Kasireye highlighted this initiative as a cornerstone of the school’s annual Independence Day tradition. He stated that the goal is to move beyond symbolic celebrations and engage in practical actions that directly enhance the lives of the local community.

Kasireye further explained that the clean-up served to raise awareness about public health, while the donations demonstrated the school’s dedication to supporting vulnerable individuals. These activities are also designed to foster a stronger bond between the school and its neighbours, encouraging students to value service.

These impactful Independence Day activities are preceding Namagabi SS’s Old Students’ Day, scheduled for October 11th. This upcoming event aims to bring former students together to discuss the school’s progress and devise strategies for enhancing academic standards and student welfare.
