In a touching tribute to the late rally driver Rajiv Ruparelia, the Ruparelia Foundation has donated a significant array of scholastic materials, sanitary pads, and sports equipment to Luweero Girls Primary School. The initiative, organized as part of a motor competition held in Gulu District to commemorate Rajiv, extended its reach to support young learners.
The donation included vital items such as books, reams of paper, pens, pencils, and toilet paper, alongside much-needed sanitary pads and sports balls. This effort aims to alleviate some of the daily challenges faced by the students and enhance their learning environment.
Kimera Stewart, who led the Ruparelia Foundation team, emphasized that the donation is a continuation of Rajiv Ruparelia’s spirit of generosity and commitment to empowering young people. “Rajiv believed in giving, supporting people and creating opportunities for others. We want to keep that spirit alive by supporting these girls and giving them something that can make a difference in their education and lives,” Kimera stated.
Stewart also highlighted the importance of sports in a girl’s development, encouraging parents and educators to foster participation. He noted that sports can build confidence, discipline, and help uncover hidden talents, potentially leading to future careers.
Community leaders and the school’s headteacher, Christine Kigozi, expressed deep gratitude for the contribution. Kigozi mentioned that the items would significantly address the school’s needs and benefit the learners, particularly the girls. The event concluded with the planting of a memorial tree at the school, symbolizing Rajiv’s memory and the foundation’s ongoing commitment to youth development.
This outreach in Luweero was intrinsically linked to the second edition of the motor competition, blending motorsport with meaningful community engagement and youth-focused programs.
