The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has been honored with the “Best Sector Exhibitor” award at the 32nd Uganda International Trade Fair. This recognition highlights NWSC’s commitment to providing essential services and its innovative approaches to serving a growing urban population.

The corporation’s exhibition focused on key areas including water quality management, sewerage services, and forward-thinking solutions for water access. A major talking point was the “Urban Pro-Poor” initiative, designed to make safe and clean water accessible to residents in informal settlements at a highly affordable rate of UGX 25 for a 20-litre jerrycan.

This initiative directly addresses the needs of low-income communities, aligning with the trade fair’s theme of “Formalising Trade to Secure Uganda’s Economic Future.” NWSC’s interactive display allowed visitors to better understand how the corporation is responding to the challenges and demands of urbanization.

During the fair’s opening, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Sanjay Tanna, visited the NWSC stall. He commended the corporation’s contributions to national development and acknowledged the positive recognition NWSC’s work has received from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. The Minister emphasized Uganda’s progress in expanding access to essential services like clean water.

NWSC views water and sanitation not merely as social services but as critical economic enablers. The award serves as an affirmation of the corporation’s role in supporting Uganda’s broader goals of fostering a more productive, inclusive, and economically stable nation.
