Lubega Institute of Nursing and Health Professionals in Iganga District has strongly denied accusations of fraud leveled against it by Bubulo East Member of Parliament, John Musila. The legislator claimed in Parliament that the institution had defrauded more than 300 students and their parents through its fee payment system.
However, the institute has countered these claims, presenting evidence that suggests the alleged fraud may involve forgery, with the MP’s own daughter implicated. According to the institute’s administration, the daughter is accused of forging official fee slips, which were then presented as genuine payments.
Police in Iganga are currently investigating these allegations, focusing on potential forgery and the uttering of forged documents. The dispute highlights a contentious issue surrounding fee payments and documentation at the nursing college.
The institution maintains its innocence regarding the broader fraud claims, suggesting that the investigation should focus on the alleged actions of the MP’s daughter rather than the operational integrity of the institute’s financial systems. This development shifts the focus of the inquiry and introduces a personal dimension to the widely publicized allegations.
The ongoing police investigation is expected to clarify the extent of the alleged forgery and determine the responsibility of the individuals involved. Further details are anticipated as the case progresses.
