Police in Arua City have launched an investigation into the deaths of a young couple, identified as 18-year-old Abiria Gift and Shida Anurite, a Congolese national. The couple was discovered dead in their home in Ezeveku Cell, Aliba Ward, Ayivu East Division, on the night of October 4, 2026.

According to West Nile Regional Police spokesperson, SSP Josephine Angucia, the discovery was made by a concerned resident who had not seen the couple since the previous evening. Detectives were dispatched to the scene to gather evidence. The couple had reportedly returned from the Democratic Republic of Congo shortly before their deaths.

Authorities have sent the bodies to Arua Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem examinations to determine the exact cause of death. Police are treating the case as suspicious and are appealing to the public for any information that might shed light on the circumstances surrounding their demise.

Investigations are ongoing under Ayivu East Station Diary Reference 07/04/10/2026, with further details anticipated following the completion of the postmortem reports. Police have urged residents to remain calm as they work to uncover the truth behind this tragic incident.
