A violent incident in Kassanda District has left a family shattered, with a woman tragically killed and her husband and son critically wounded. The attack occurred early Sunday morning at the residence of Kaweesa Arnold and his wife, Rosette, who also operated a bar at their home in Kasawo West, Kiganda Sub-county.
According to police, the tragedy may stem from an altercation the previous evening. Rosette reportedly had a dispute with two customers at their bar over an unpaid bill. The customers, one known to the family and the other identified only as Sanira, are believed to be of Burundian origin. They allegedly left the bar after threatening Rosette.
The following morning, a visitor arriving to meet Rosette discovered the horrific scene. She found Rosette deceased on the veranda, with her husband and son inside the house sustaining serious head injuries and unable to communicate. Evidence at the scene suggested a struggle had taken place.
Investigators are particularly interested in the two men from the previous night, who have reportedly gone incommunicado with their phones switched off. Police suspect they may be connected to the attack. Rosetteās missing bag, which allegedly contained Shs140,000, adds a potential robbery motive to the investigation.
Local authorities were alerted by the village chairperson, and a homicide team from the Kassanda District Police Command has visited the scene. The injured husband and son are receiving treatment, while the deceased awaits a postmortem examination. Police are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects.
