Jamuliro Yusuf Clinches Omumanyi wa Salam TV Eastern Region Title

Jamuliro Yusuf, a resident of Nakaloke in Mbale, has been crowned the champion of the Eastern Region finals for the seventh edition of the Omumanyi wa Salam TV quiz competition. The event took place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Main Campus auditorium.

The intense competition saw participants from across the Eastern Region tested on their knowledge of theology, history, current affairs, and general knowledge. Organized by Salam TV and powered by MTN MoMo, the event initially featured around 40 contestants, with six formidable participants making it to the final showdown.

Among the finalists were Jamuliro Yusuf, Genza Muhamad, Kinanswa Zainab, Ssetuba Jumah Hassan, Nakimuli Salwa, and Buyondo Nasser. The guest of honour was Hon. Lydia Wanyoto Mutende, Minister of State for Public Service, who praised Salam TV for its community-engaging initiatives.

As the Eastern Region victor, Yusuf has been awarded a fully sponsored Umrah pilgrimage to Makkah and Madinah, a prize provided by Salam TV in collaboration with Al-Misbaahu Hajj and Umrah Services. His win also qualifies him to represent the Eastern Region in the upcoming Omumanyi wa Salam TV Grand National Competition scheduled for December 19, 2026.

Genza Muhamad secured the first runner-up position, receiving a television set and other prizes. Kinanswa Zainab, the second runner-up, was awarded a Samsung Galaxy smartphone. The remaining finalists and participants also received various prizes, including household items and electronics, acknowledging their efforts.

The Omumanyi wa Salam TV competition is being expanded this year to include eight regions across Uganda, aiming to provide broader opportunities for participation beyond Kampala. This expansion reflects Salam TV’s commitment to fostering knowledge and engagement across the nation.
