The Rotary Club of Akright City recently hosted District Governor Daniel Mukasa Ddamulira, highlighting the club’s dedication to impactful community service. A key focus of the visit was the ongoing signature project at St. Padro Pio Kabulamuliro Primary School, which aims to create a safer and more dignified learning environment.
This ambitious project is now 60% complete, addressing severe dilapidation at the school, which had been impacting the health and safety of its students and staff. The initiative involves a comprehensive overhaul, including re-roofing, floor re-casting, and the construction of disability-friendly ramps and sidewalks. The club has committed over UGX 60 million to this rehabilitation effort.
Beyond the physical improvements, the project is expected to boost student concentration, health, and overall learning outcomes. This investment is seen as an investment in the dignity of learners and teachers, aligning with broader goals of Universal Primary Education and inclusive learning.
During his visit, Governor Ddamulira inspected the ongoing renovation work and engaged with the school community. The Rotary Club of Akright City also presented three additional community projects to the Governor, including kitchen renovations, a health center lounge, classroom upgrades, and a solar-powered water source. These four projects represent a combined investment of approximately UGX 145 million.
The visit concluded with a fellowship event, offering Rotarians, partners, and community leaders a chance to celebrate the club’s dedication to “Service Above Self” and its tangible impact on improving lives.
