Authorities in Kiboga District have launched a manhunt for a man named Mustafa, suspected of hacking his partner, Annet Namusoke (42), to death in what appears to be a domestic violence incident. The gruesome discovery was made on Friday morning at the couple’s home in Kakunyu B Cell, Bukomero Town Council.
According to preliminary reports, the attack occurred around 5:00 AM. Namusoke and Mustafa had been living together for approximately two years, and neighbors reported frequent disputes between the couple.
Law enforcement was alerted to the situation by a local resident. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered Namusoke’s body inside the residence and recovered an axe believed to be the murder weapon, which showed signs of bloodstaining.
Police attempted to use a canine unit to track the suspect, but the operation was hampered by a crowd of onlookers who had gathered at the scene. Wamala Regional Police spokesperson, Mr. Lameck Kigozi, emphasized the importance of preserving crime scenes, warning that public interference can compromise forensic investigations.
“People should always desist from tampering with scenes of crime to avoid contamination,” Mr. Kigozi stated.
Namusoke’s body has been taken to Kiboga Hospital for a postmortem examination. As of Friday evening, Mustafa remained at large, and police are coordinating efforts to apprehend him. Mr. Kigozi also urged couples experiencing relationship issues to seek mediation and support through available channels to prevent such tragic escalations.
The incident has sparked concern in Bukomero Town Council regarding the prevalence of domestic abuse, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full details of the killing.
