Panga-Wielding Attackers Storm Kasese Police Station, One Fatally Shot

Tragedy struck Bugiye Sub-county Police Station in Kasese District late Wednesday night when a group of armed assailants launched an attack. Around 2:00 am, an estimated six individuals, reportedly carrying pangas, stormed the station with the apparent intention of disarming an officer on duty.

According to police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke, the officer on duty bravely resisted the assault. In the ensuing confrontation, the officer shot one of the attackers in the leg. The injured individual managed to flee the scene but was later discovered dead a short distance away. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.

Following the incident, law enforcement swiftly launched an investigation. As of Thursday, four individuals have been apprehended in connection with the raid. Those arrested have been identified as Simon Irumba, Kiiza Abson, George Kadama, and Lenaxi Baluku. Authorities are continuing their efforts to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the attack and to apprehend any other individuals involved.

The Uganda Police Force has stated that they remain vigilant and prepared to respond effectively to any further threats or similar incidents. The investigation is ongoing.
