The Makulubita sub-county in Luweero District now has a dedicated police station, marking a significant step in bringing law enforcement services closer to the residents of Nakikonge Village. The commissioning, which signifies a stronger partnership between the community and security forces, was led by AIGP Frank Mwesigwa, the Director of Operations, representing the Inspector General of Police.

The new station is a testament to community-police collaboration, generously donated by Uganda’s Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Hajji Kaliisa Farid. AIGP Mwesigwa lauded Ambassador Kaliisa for his support, emphasizing that such initiatives are crucial for improving crime response and fostering community engagement in Makulubita and its surrounding areas.

During the ceremony, AIGP Mwesigwa urged the deployed officers to uphold discipline, integrity, and professionalism, stressing the importance of people-centered policing. He encouraged them to work hand-in-hand with the community, focusing on crime prevention and the swift delivery of justice.

Furthermore, officers were reminded to utilize police motorcycles effectively for patrols and rapid response, rather than leaving them idle at the station. Mwesigwa also called upon residents to provide timely information to the police and to support government programs aimed at economic empowerment, noting its potential to reduce crime rates.

The Luweero Resident District Commissioner, Mariam Nalubega, echoed the sentiments of improved security and thanked Ambassador Kaliisa and his family for their contribution. She highlighted the effectiveness of the sub-county policing model in Luweero, which has already been strengthened by the recent donation of 20 motorcycles to aid patrols and crime prevention efforts.

Abdul Kaliisa, representing Ambassador Farid, expressed gratitude for the prevailing peace in the country and reaffirmed the family’s commitment to supporting the police force and the Makulubita community. The family has provided a 10-year lease for the premises.
