Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, recently convened with a delegation of 70 student leaders from various universities and tertiary institutions. The meeting, held at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) headquarters in Kampala, aimed to foster dialogue and provide guidance to the emerging young leaders.
During the gathering, Mufti Mubaje underscored the critical need for student leaders to cultivate strong inter-group bonds and maintain a steadfast commitment to their academic pursuits. He emphasized that their education forms the bedrock upon which future leadership capabilities will be built.
“Strengthen the bond among yourselves, remain focused on your studies and prepare yourselves to take up leadership responsibilities,” Mufti Mubaje advised the assembled students. He further encouraged them to diligently acquire knowledge, discipline, and a profound sense of responsibility, asserting that these virtues are indispensable for effective service to their communities and the nation at large.
The meeting was organized by the National Organising Committee in preparation for the upcoming National Muslim Youth Convention, slated for November 28-29, 2026. This significant event is anticipated to draw Muslim youth from all corners of Uganda and will be officially inaugurated by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Student leaders present were tasked with the crucial role of mobilizing their peers to ensure widespread participation in the convention. The UMSC is keen on enhancing youth engagement and leadership development within the broader Muslim community. Representatives, including guild presidents from the Inter-University Guild Leaders Network and chairpersons of Muslim Students’ Associations, were part of the influential gathering.
