Esteban Ocon’s tenure with the Haas Formula 1 team is set to conclude at the end of the year, casting a shadow over his continued participation in the sport. The announcement from Haas signals a significant crossroads for the 30-year-old driver, who has been a fixture in F1 since 2016.

Ocon, a Grand Prix winner with Alpine in 2021, joined Haas in 2025. His previous F1 stints included races with Manor and Force India. However, with no clear seats available on the 2027 grid, Ocon’s resolve is being tested.

Despite the challenging outlook, Ocon remains optimistic. “This is absolutely not the end of my Formula 1 career,” he stated, emphasizing his commitment. He reflected on his time with Haas, stating he leaves the project “with my head held high and proud of my performances in what were not always the easiest of circumstances.”

Ocon also acknowledged that factors beyond his control influenced his performance. His immediate focus remains on the upcoming races, aiming to “maximise every opportunity” and “keep extracting every bit of performance from the car.”

Performance has been a talking point, with teammate Oliver Bearman consistently outperforming Ocon since they joined forces at Haas. In the current season, Bearman holds a notable advantage in both points and qualifying pace. Last year, the gap was also evident in their respective championship standings and qualifying duels.

Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu acknowledged Ocon’s contributions, calling his “professionalism and commitment valuable” during the team’s development phase, particularly with significant regulation changes. He noted Ocon’s “driving experience and inputs were significant” in developing the VF-26 car throughout the season.
