UNEB's Final Warning: Submit S4 Continuous Assessment Scores by Midnight or Face Consequences

Heads of secondary schools and Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examination centres have been issued a final notice by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) to submit outstanding Continuous Assessment (CA) scores. The deadline is midnight on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. According to UNEB’s Principal Public Relations Officer, Ms. Jennifer Kalule Musamba, candidates whose CA scores are not fully submitted by this time will not receive a grade for their examinations.

This directive comes as the national examinations are set to commence in early October. Ms. Kalule emphasized that the online portal for submissions will close promptly at midnight, and no further scores will be accepted for this cohort after the deadline. UNEB plans to publish a list of schools that have not submitted the required CA scores for their Senior Four candidates.

For schools encountering technical difficulties with the online portal, UNEB has provided an alternative. Administrators can generate the scores using the AMIS 2026 software, save the data to a CD, and deliver it physically to the UNEB Continuous Assessment offices in Kyambogo. This ensures that all candidates have their CA scores accounted for.

Under the current Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), Continuous Assessment constitutes 20 percent of a student’s final grade, with the national examinations accounting for the remaining 80 percent. As of last week, UNEB reported that 82 percent of the CA scores had been submitted.

The UCE examinations are scheduled to begin on October 12, with Mathematics Paper 1 and General Science/Chemistry papers. Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) will commence on October 30, and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams will begin on November 9. A total of 1,627,885 candidates are registered for national examinations this year across all levels.
