A significant investment discussion has taken place between the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, and a United Arab Emirates-based firm, 5PL Logistics Solutions. The talks centered on the potential development of an integrated agro-processing and logistics hub within the Busoga region.

During a visit to 5PL’s facilities in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, September 28, 2026, the Kyabazinga, accompanied by Uganda’s Ambassador to the UAE, Zaake W. Kibedi, and other officials, toured the company’s operations. They were briefed on 5PL’s expertise in warehousing, storage, inventory management, cargo handling, distribution, and supply chain management.

The core of the discussions revolved around replicating 5PL’s integrated model in Busoga. The proposed facility would consolidate agro-processing, post-harvest handling, modern storage, packaging, cold-chain solutions, and distribution services. This initiative is designed to tackle critical issues faced by farmers and agribusinesses in Busoga, such as high post-harvest losses, insufficient storage capacity, and limited value addition opportunities.

His Highness the Kyabazinga highlighted Busoga’s considerable agricultural potential, stressing the importance of transitioning from exporting raw produce to developing value-added products and securing better market access. “We welcome partnerships that bring modern technology, capital and expertise while creating jobs for our youth and farming communities,” he stated.

Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Hosani, Chairman of 5PL, expressed keen interest in the opportunities presented by Busoga and Uganda, noting the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation. Both parties have committed to further engagements to evaluate the project and establish a concrete partnership framework. Ambassador Kibedi affirmed the embassy’s dedication to facilitating these follow-up discussions, aiming to convert the dialogue into tangible investments that will drive socio-economic transformation in Busoga.

This collaboration underscores the growing investment ties between Ugandan entities and UAE companies, particularly in sectors crucial for reducing waste, generating employment, and expanding market reach for Ugandan agricultural products.
