Suspected Killer of Music Icon Moses Matovu Remanded

The investigation into the death of legendary Ugandan musician Moses Matovu has taken a significant turn with the remand of Vincent Arnold Nsamba, 47, identified as the main suspect. Nsamba, also known as Sitenda, is a driver by profession and resides in Kibuli, Kampala.
Appearing before Makindye chief magistrate Idah Nanjala, Nsamba was formally charged with the murder of Matovu, the founder of the renowned Afrigo Band. The prosecution alleges that on September 24, 2026, Nsamba, with premeditated intent, caused the death of 77-year-old Matovu at Market B Zone, Kibuli Parish.
Nsamba, who appeared calm in court, confirmed he understood the charges. However, Magistrate Nanjala informed him that her court does not have the jurisdiction to try murder cases, advising him that he could seek bail from the High Court. The magistrate also noted that investigations are ongoing and assured Nsamba of legal representation if needed.
Matovu, a celebrated figure in Ugandan music since his youth, passed away on September 24, 2026, at Kibuli Hospital following a severe head injury sustained during a confrontation. He was laid to rest on September 25, 2026, in Kyanja.
Also present at the court was Rose Tusiime, a woman reportedly at the center of the investigation. She was observed leaving the court premises accompanied by security personnel, though no charges were publicly disclosed against her at this time.
Nsamba was remanded to Luzira Upper Prison, with his next court appearance scheduled for November 3, 2026.
