Sheryl Botes Departs as Crested Cranes Head Coach

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has announced the end of Sheryl Botes’ three-year contract as head coach for the Crested Cranes, Uganda’s senior women’s national football team.

This decision comes after a mutual agreement between Botes and FUFA not to renew her contract, effectively concluding her time with the team. Botes was initially appointed on November 15, 2023.

Her responsibilities extended beyond the senior team, as she was also tasked with guiding and developing Uganda’s women’s youth national teams. Her departure marks the end of her involvement across multiple levels of the national women’s football structure.

During her tenure with the Crested Cranes, Botes managed 12 matches. The team secured four wins, one draw, and suffered seven losses. They scored 14 goals and conceded 18, managing to keep clean sheets in two of those games.

FUFA expressed gratitude for Botes’ contributions to the national teams. “FUFA would like to thank Sheryl for the good work done and wish her the best in the future,” stated the federation.

The federation will now focus on appointing a new head coach for the Crested Cranes as they continue their mission to enhance the performance of Uganda’s women’s national football teams.
