Police Reconstruct Afrigo Band Legend Moses Matovu's Final Hours

Detectives meticulously retraced the final hours of Moses Matovu, the celebrated musician from Afrigo Band, by conducting a scene reconstruction exercise. The operation involved the two primary suspects in his death, Vincent Nsamba and Rose Tusiime, who were escorted by law enforcement to various locations significant to the events preceding Matovu’s demise.

The reconstruction commenced at Rujumbura Bar in Kibuli, a place Matovu and Tusiime reportedly visited on the night of his death. Police later moved the suspects to Tusiime’s residence in Market Zone B, and finally to the spot where Matovu’s vehicle was parked during the fatal confrontation.

At the scene, Tusiime, 26, provided a detailed account, demonstrating how the altercation allegedly unfolded and how Matovu sustained his fatal head injury. Her statements and actions were recorded by detectives as they worked to establish a clear timeline of events.

Vincent Nsamba, 41, also known as Arnold, faced scrutiny regarding his presence and alleged involvement at the confrontation site. Police emphasized that these reconstructions are crucial for corroborating suspect statements with physical evidence, measuring critical distances, and determining the positions of individuals during the incident.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Rachael Kawala, confirmed that similar exercises have taken place in other areas as investigators gather more evidence. The operation, which spanned over two hours and was overseen by senior detectives, concluded with the suspects being returned to Natete police station, where they remain in custody.

Local leaders identified Nsamba as a former casual laborer for Matovu, assisting with band equipment, and noted his past training in kickboxing. The police’s preliminary report suggests a confrontation occurred at Tusiime’s residence after Nsamba allegedly smashed a window to gain entry, escalating when Matovu and Tusiime approached his vehicle.
