Fatal Accident on Kayunga-Jinja Road Claims Two Lives

A severe traffic accident has claimed the lives of two individuals and left nine others injured along the Kayunga-Jinja Road. The incident, which involved a white Tata truck and a white Toyota Hiace commuter taxi, occurred at approximately 9:16 PM on Friday near Seeta Nyize in Kangulumira Town Council, Kayunga District.
According to Ssezibwa Region Police spokesperson Hellen Butoto, both vehicles were traveling from Kayunga towards Jinja when the collision took place. The deceased have been identified as Mubiru Martin and Wanguwu Fred, both adult males from Nazigo in Kayunga District.
Of the nine injured, eight were taken to Kangulumira Health Centre IV. A critically injured adult male was transported to Kayunga Regional Referral Hospital. Among those receiving medical attention is Julius Kasubi, a rescuer from Kangulumira.
Police have visited the scene, and the bodies of the deceased have been moved to the mortuary for postmortem examination. The vehicles involved have been towed to Kangulumira Police Station for inspection, and authorities are working to identify the drivers. Investigations into the cause of the crash are underway, and motorists are being urged to prioritize road safety and discipline.
