Triple Tragedy: Family of Three Fatally Attacked in Kazo Robbery
Police are investigating a brutal aggravated robbery in Kazo District where three family members were killed and others injured. Tragedy struck Kagasha Cell in Kazo District on Friday night when an aggravated robbery left three members of the same family dead and others injured. The victims, identified as Ntegyerize Afusa, 47, Tumuramye Sudais, 14, and Nuwandinda Asifa, 11, were attacked in their home.
According to police, the perpetrators were allegedly motivated by information that the family’s head had recently received Shs1.5 million and kept it at their residence. The suspects are believed to have gained entry through an unsecured back door and proceeded directly to the bedroom where the family was sleeping.
During the violent encounter, assailants reportedly used a hammer, a panga (machete), and a walking stick, leading to the fatal injuries and other wounds. The attackers made off with the stolen money after the assault.
Police deployed a sniffer dog to the scene, which successfully tracked a scent leading to the apprehension of a primary suspect, Nuwamanya Christopher. This arrest subsequently led to the capture of two alleged accomplices, Nuwamanya Micheal and Asiimwe Abel. Searches at the suspects’ homes yielded several exhibits believed to be connected to the incident.
The injured family members are currently receiving medical attention, while the deceased have been taken to a government morgue for post-mortem examinations. Investigations into the robbery and killings are ongoing, with the suspects in police custody.
