Contractor Charged for Impersonating State House Anti-Corruption Officer

Derrick Muzuusa, a contractor associated with LOGISCO Company Ltd, faces charges of impersonation and obtaining money by false pretence. He was arraigned in the Tororo Chief Magistrate’s Court and subsequently remanded until October 6, 2026.

Muzuusa allegedly presented himself as an officer from the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU), claiming he could influence corruption-related cases and secure the release of implicated individuals. This occurred on September 22, 2026, in Tororo District, where he is accused of defrauding municipal officials and other persons.

The scheme appears to have targeted individuals affected by the ongoing “Expose the Corrupt Campaign.” Muzuusa reportedly demanded Shs10 million from victims, falsely assuring them that the funds would facilitate their release and case management.

This operation was a result of a collaborative investigation involving SH-ACU, the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). The prosecution contends that Muzuusa was not affiliated with the SH-ACU when he made these demands.

As anti-corruption efforts intensify, the SH-ACU, in conjunction with CID and ODPP, has issued a public warning. Citizens are urged to exercise caution and report any individuals falsely claiming authority over corruption investigations or court proceedings. Suspected cases of impersonation or extortion should be reported to the relevant authorities immediately.
