SFC Promotes and Decorates 62 Officers in Entebbe Ceremony

A significant ceremony took place at the Special Forces Command (SFC) Headquarters in Entebbe, where 62 officers were honored with new ranks. The promotions, recognizing service, commitment, and professional conduct, saw 15 senior officers and 47 junior officers decorated.

Presiding over the event, SFC Commander Maj Gen Asaph Mweteise Nyakikuru congratulated the officers, emphasizing that their advancement brings increased responsibility and accountability. He urged them to lead by example, maintain discipline, mentor subordinates, and continuously enhance their skills to adapt to modern military challenges.

Maj Gen Nyakikuru also challenged the newly promoted officers to leverage their positions to boost operational readiness, training, physical fitness, and professional competence, while fostering unity within their units. The SFC Deputy Commander, Brig Gen John Bosco Asinguza, advised them to wield their authority with courage, humility, fairness, and restraint, stressing that character is paramount as they rise through the ranks.

Brig Gen Asinguza acknowledged the crucial support of the officers’ spouses and families, whose sacrifices and prayers form a vital foundation for their service. Representing the promoted officers, Lt Col Nicholas Kagaba expressed gratitude to the UPDF leadership for recognizing their contributions and pledged continued loyalty, integrity, discipline, and courage in serving Uganda.

Lt Col Kagaba encouraged his peers to use their new authority for personal development, mentorship, and strengthening the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). The ceremony was attended by SFC leadership, including the Director of Human Resource Management, Col Night Ikiriza, who read the citations, alongside other commanders, officers, and families.
