UPPC Achieves ISO Certification to Expand Market Reach

The Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC) is charting a new course, aiming to diversify its business beyond its traditional role as the government’s official printer. This strategic shift is bolstered by the recent attainment of ISO 9001:2015 certification, an international quality management standard.

Announced on September 14, the certification confirms that UPPC’s internal processes meet stringent global benchmarks for quality, accountability, and ongoing development. Essentially, it validates the corporation’s ability to consistently deliver products and services that satisfy customer needs and regulatory requirements.

UPPC management views this accreditation as a pivotal element in its modernization strategy. The goal is to enhance customer experience and significantly grow its commercial printing and publishing ventures, extending its reach beyond government contracts.

Professor Sudi Nangoli, UPPC’s Managing Director, highlighted the certification’s importance in transforming the corporation. “This demonstrates that UPPC is operating in accordance with internationally recognized quality standards,” Nangoli stated. He added that it “strengthens confidence in our services and positions us to compete more effectively for opportunities both at home and in the international market.”

Historically, UPPC has held a unique position as Uganda’s official publisher, responsible for critical documents like the Uganda Gazette and legislative texts. The ISO certification is expected to enhance its competitiveness in securing commercial work from both public and private sector clients.
