Reggae dancehall artist Sama Sojah has ignited debate within Uganda’s music scene with his assertion that indiscipline, rather than hard work and order, is the driving force behind the success of some prominent musicians.
In a recent interview with a local television station, Sama Sojah expressed his frustration, stating that artists who operate with a perceived lack of discipline have managed to achieve significant recognition and success. He contrasted this with the experiences of disciplined musicians, including himself, who he feels are often overlooked.
“Indiscipline has made people successful in the music industry. They have been successful because of that indiscipline, while we, the good ones and the disciplined, starve,” Sama Sojah stated during the interview.
This is not the first time the singer has voiced strong opinions about the inner workings of the Ugandan music industry. Previously, Sama Sojah has spoken openly about perceived challenges, even alleging that witchcraft has negatively impacted his career trajectory.
