Mubende Police Bolster Response with 14 New Motorcycles

Police officers in Mubende District are now better equipped to tackle crime following the donation of 14 motorcycles. This crucial boost in mobility is specifically designed to enhance the force’s ability to respond to incidents in sub-counties located far from the main town, where transport has been a persistent challenge.

For years, residents and local leaders have voiced concerns over slow police response times. The lack of adequate vehicles at the sub-county level often hampered officers’ efforts to reach crime scenes promptly or pursue fleeing suspects effectively.

The handover ceremony saw local officials and police personnel witness the arrival of the new machines. Mubende Deputy Resident District Commissioner Abubaker Birungi emphasized the positive impact these motorcycles will have. “Criminals should be worried,” Birungi stated, “because there will be no obstacles preventing law enforcement officers from arresting them.”

Birungi confirmed that the government acted upon numerous complaints from the community regarding the police’s limited reach. The new motorcycles are expected to drastically reduce crime rates by ensuring a quicker police presence across the district. “With these motorcycles, we expect crime to reduce because police officers will be able to respond quickly to incidents,” he added.

Mubende District Police Commander Umar Mugerwa expressed gratitude for the government’s intervention. “These motorcycles will help us improve our response to crime and strengthen security in the communities,” Mugerwa remarked. The allocation ensures each sub-county receives one motorcycle, assigned to the Officer in Charge to maximize operational benefit and ease the movement of officers within their respective jurisdictions.
