The Kigezi community is preparing to host a significant homecoming and thanksgiving ceremony for Uganda’s Chief Justice, Dr. Flavian Zeija. The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at St. Mary’s College Rushoroza, his alma mater.
This special occasion aims to honor Dr. Zeija’s appointment as Chief Justice, a historic achievement as he is the first individual from the Kigezi region to hold this esteemed position. The celebration is expected to draw a diverse crowd, including prominent political and religious figures, community leaders, former faculty, and alumni from across the Kigezi sub-region.
Coinciding with St. Mary’s Day celebrations at the college, the event will also feature a fundraising initiative for the completion of the institution’s Mega Dining Hall. Head teacher Monday Christopher highlighted the opportunity for the school community to express gratitude for its successes and to celebrate one of its most distinguished former students.
Dr. Zeija, who served as head boy during his six years at St. Mary’s College Rushoroza, is remembered by former classmates for his leadership, discipline, and unifying presence.
