Old Mutual Uganda has rolled out “Thrive by Old Mutual,” a comprehensive digital wellness application designed to encourage active engagement in personal well-being. The platform integrates resources for financial, physical, mental, and nutritional health, providing users with accessible information and tools.
The launch event in Kampala brought together various stakeholders, highlighting the growing societal concern for mental health and the interconnectedness of financial security, physical health, nutrition, and psychological well-being. This initiative comes at a critical time, as a recent report indicated a significant rise in mental health cases in Uganda.
Zac Kisesi, Managing Director of Old Mutual Investment Group Uganda, emphasized that financial wellness is a crucial component of overall well-being, going beyond income to encompass confidence in decision-making and future planning. He stated that Thrive aims to demystify financial wellness by integrating goal setting into daily life.
Andrew Makumbi, Managing Director of Old Mutual Insurance Uganda, noted that the app reflects an evolving role for insurers, shifting from solely addressing risks post-event to proactively helping customers reduce risks and adopt healthier lifestyles. Patrick Kimathi, Managing Director of Old Mutual Life Assurance Uganda, added that Thrive promotes a long-term perspective on well-being, recognizing how daily choices impact future preparedness.
With Uganda’s digital landscape rapidly expanding, evidenced by a rise in mobile internet and subscription numbers, Old Mutual sees Thrive as a strategic opportunity to deliver wellness support digitally. The app features include fitness activities, financial and mental wellness discussions, meditation, yoga, and nutrition advice. Users can also earn rewards from partner offers by completing wellness challenges.
Old Mutual aims for Thrive to foster a sustainable wellness community in Uganda, encouraging continuous improvement across all facets of well-being. The application is available for free download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
