Mayuge Gears Up for Kyabazinga's 12th Coronation Anniversary

The district headquarters of Mayuge is set to host the grand event marking 12 years since William Gabula Nadiope IV ascended the Busoga throne. The anniversary is expected to draw subjects from across the entire Busoga sub-region.

In anticipation of the milestone, Mayuge town experienced a flurry of activity on Friday. Leaders, students, and residents joined forces for a comprehensive cleaning exercise, transforming the district into a welcoming space for the expected visitors. The initiative, which began at Mayuge Health Centre IV, extended to the main celebration venue.

Hajjat Lukia Isanga Nakadama, Chairperson of the Organising Committee and 3rd Deputy Prime Minister, emphasized the significance of the event. “The coronation anniversary is not only a royal event but also an occasion for the people of Busoga to come together and celebrate their culture and unity,” she stated, underscoring the importance of Mayuge’s readiness.

Following the clean-up, organizers initiated a door-to-door campaign to encourage widespread participation. This mobilization effort aims to ensure that ordinary residents feel an integral part of the celebrations, recognizing that the Kyabazinga represents all people of Busoga.

Adding a health dimension to the festivities, the Kyabazinga’s Health Office organized a medical outreach camp at the celebration site. This camp provides essential treatment and screening for various illnesses, including non-communicable diseases, reflecting a commitment to the well-being of the community.

“We decided to include a health outreach because the wellbeing of our people is important,” Nakadama explained. Dr. Nelson Mugubira of the Kyabazinga’s Health Office added, “We encourage members of the public to use this opportunity to know their health status and seek medical attention where necessary.”

These multifaceted preparations—spanning cleanliness, community engagement, and healthcare—underscore the collaborative spirit as Mayuge prepares to welcome thousands for this significant royal occasion.
