Buikwe Kidnapping Suspects Apprehended, Ransom Trail Leads to Arrest

Authorities in Buikwe District have successfully apprehended three suspects linked to the abduction of two children from Njeru Municipality. The arrests were confirmed by Police Spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke.
The suspects, identified as Odongo, Kasaija, and Nkuruziza, were apprehended on Thursday in Bujawali village. Police utilized mobile money transaction records, which were part of the Shs100 million ransom demand, to trace and locate the culprits.
During the operation, law enforcement also recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the criminal activities. More importantly, the two kidnapped children, Isaiah Mugabane (10) and Jeremiah Mugabane (6), were found unharmed and have since been reunited with their parents.
The incident occurred on September 7, when two armed and masked men reportedly stormed the children’s home. A domestic worker present at the time was allegedly injured and locked in a bedroom after raising an alarm. The exact amount of ransom paid before the suspects’ arrest remains undetermined.
The arrested individuals are currently in custody at Buikwe Central Police Station as investigations continue.
