12 Teens Arrested After Brutal Assault Video Surfaces Near Kibuli Mosque

A disturbing video circulating on social media has led to the arrest of twelve teenagers in connection with a brutal assault that occurred near Kibuli Mosque. The short clip depicts a group of youths cornering a peer before one delivers a forceful punch, causing the victim to fall unconscious into a drainage channel.
The incident, which reportedly took place around 6 pm on September 13th in Nakibinge Zone, Kibuli, drew the attention of Kabalagala Police Division. Following the video’s widespread circulation, police launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those involved.
Operations conducted Thursday and into Friday morning resulted in the apprehension of the twelve suspects, all minors aged between 14 and 17 years old. The primary suspect is 16 years old. The victim, also 16, is currently recovering at his home.
Authorities are still working to determine the exact cause of the confrontation, investigating whether it was a street fight or an attempted robbery. Police are also focused on establishing the specific role each of the arrested youths played in the assault.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala condemned the violence, emphasizing that the suspects would be processed under the juvenile justice system. “We condemn acts of violence, particularly those involving minors. The suspects will be dealt with in accordance with the law governing juvenile offenders,” Kawala stated.
The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
