Months after the parliamentary elections, Kadongo Kamu artist and former politician Mathias Walukaga is still facing the financial repercussions of his campaign for the Busiro East Member of Parliament position.

Walukaga revealed that he invested upwards of Shs300 million in his electoral bid. He shared in a recent interview that the financial strain is significant, as he continues to pay off outstanding debts accumulated during the campaign period.

“I spent over Shs300 million on campaigns. I am still paying debts up to today. It is that painful, but true,” Walukaga stated, emphasizing the ongoing struggle.

To alleviate some of this financial burden, Walukaga has planned a concert. The proceeds from this event are intended to help clear a portion of the campaign-related financial obligations. The concert, initially slated for November, has since been rescheduled and is now expected to take place on January 15, 2027.

Walukaga’s candid remarks shed light on the considerable financial commitment and lasting impact of political campaigns, even after the electoral process has concluded.
