Katikkiro Mayiga: Service to God and Community Transcends Financial Gain

Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has called on members of the Namirembe Diocese Synod to prioritize selfless service, viewing it as a profound responsibility to God and society, rather than an opportunity for financial compensation.

During the official launch of the Namirembe Diocese Synod, held under the theme “Serving God Without Expecting Financial Payment,” Mayiga highlighted that progress and meaningful development are intrinsically linked to individuals willing to dedicate themselves to serving others.

“Service is doing work that benefits others. Without service, there can be no progress,” Mayiga stated. He further elaborated that the satisfaction derived from serving Christ and the community is immeasurable in monetary terms, serving as a testament to an individual’s core values and dedication.

The Katikkiro commended the Synod members for accepting their roles, acknowledging that while financial rewards may be absent, the reward of service itself is far greater. He stressed that the honor associated with their positions stems not from the titles or offices held, but from the diligent and effective execution of their entrusted responsibilities.

Mayiga urged the Synod members to approach their duties with humility, commitment, and a genuine spirit of service. He concluded by emphasizing that the true measure of their contribution would be the positive impact they create within the church and the broader community.
