Namilyango Leads as Clash of the Titans Golf Heats Up

Namilyango College has taken an early lead in the fifth Clash of the Titans Golf Championship, amassing 356 points from their top 10 players in the opening leg. The team, captained by Milton Edimu, edged out rivals King’s College Budo, who secured 352 points, with Ntare School close behind in third place with 350 points.

Edimu attributed Namilyango’s strong performance to a relaxed approach and a diverse mix of players with varying handicaps. “We take the event as a fun and banter-filled day,” he commented. Kenneth Tumusiime, vice-captain of Mary Louise Simkins Memorial Club and a Namilyango OB, was the team’s standout player, scoring 43 stableford points.

The Clash of the Titans uniquely brings together golfers based on their former secondary schools, regardless of their graduation year. The challenge lies in mobilizing large numbers of participants, a feat Namilyango, alongside other prominent schools, consistently achieves. Edimu anticipates an even more competitive second leg in Entebbe, with players eager to contribute.

In the ladies’ category, Bweranyangi Girls SS, led by Gloria Mbaguta, is in the lead with 157 points. Maryhill High is hot on their heels with 149 points, followed by Gayaza High School with 101 points.

The tournament, which saw over 200 players participate, will conclude in Entebbe on October 10th, promising further excitement and a close contest for the overall title.
