Mbarara District Woman Member of Parliament, Loydah Kyarikunda Muhimbura, has officially endorsed General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).
Speaking to residents in Mbarara District on Wednesday, Kyarikunda stressed the importance of unity and maintaining strong community ties, especially in preparation for a peaceful leadership transition.
“I am standing firmly behind General Muhoozi Kainerugaba because his vision aligns with the socio-economic aspirations of our people,” Kyarikunda stated. She urged constituents to remain united, emphasizing that solidarity is key to navigating the future political landscape and ensuring sustained development.
The MP highlighted that unity within the district is crucial for advancing development, improving social infrastructure, and expanding economic opportunities for the residents of Mbarara.
Kyarikunda’s endorsement aligns with the increased mobilisation efforts of the PLU in the Ankole region. The sentiment was shared by Didas Tabaro, former Mbarara District LC5 Chairman and current PLU Deputy Regional Coordinator. Tabaro, who has been active in grassroots mobilisation in western Uganda, reaffirmed his commitment to the PLU.
“We must be deliberate and intentional about supporting the incoming president, because he is coming anyway,” Tabaro told Nile Post. He described General Muhoozi as representing the “continuity, stability and dynamic leadership” the country needs.
Tabaro urged voters and local leaders to back the PLU’s movement, stating that the time for indecision is over and that deliberate steps are needed to secure the collective future. He expressed confidence that Kainerugaba would be on the ballot when the opportune moment arrives.
These declarations from prominent local leaders signify a growing political momentum for General Muhoozi Kainerugaba and the PLU within Mbarara and the wider Ankole region, with local leaders vowing to continue engaging communities on these political developments.
