The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is stepping up to support maternal health in Uganda by co-hosting the upcoming Corporate Run 2026. This partnership underscores a commitment to improving the well-being of expectant mothers through a focused fundraising effort.
The fourth annual Corporate Run is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at the NEC Grounds in Bugolobi, Kampala. The event kicks off at 6:00 a.m. under the theme “A Run for Maternal Health, A Run for Expectant Mothers.”
The primary goal of this year’s run is to raise funds for the procurement of 5,000 “mama kits.” These essential kits will be distributed to health centers nationwide, with a particular focus on facilities serving underprivileged communities.
Participants can choose from several race options, including 15-kilometre, 10-kilometre, and 5-kilometre runs. In a special segment, company chief executive officers will engage in a 3-kilometre walk, demonstrating leadership support for the cause.
Each participant kit is priced at Shs30,000, with all proceeds directly contributing to the purchase of the mama kits. Registration and kit purchases can be made via MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, or the event’s online platform.
Lyn Tukei, CMA’s Communications and Public Relations Manager, highlighted that the authority’s involvement aligns with its 30th-anniversary celebrations. “As we mark 30 years of building Uganda’s capital markets, we chose to celebrate by looking outward. Supporting mothers and protecting lives is the most meaningful way for us to give back,” Tukei stated. She emphasized that investing in maternal health is a crucial form of capital investment.
Corporate Run Chairman Ian Rumanyika expressed enthusiasm for CMA’s participation, noting that their support amplifies the message of prioritizing maternal health. He commended CMA for linking its anniversary to the vital goal of ensuring safer deliveries for mothers in Uganda.
The initiative aims to foster collaboration between the corporate sector and the public in a joint effort to enhance maternal healthcare services through the provision of essential supplies. The event expects to draw a diverse crowd of companies, employees, executives, and the general public, all united by the common goal of supporting expectant mothers.
