Uganda to Host Inaugural Grand Anasheed and Maulid Gathering

Muslims in Uganda will soon experience a novel spiritual gathering, the first of its kind in the nation. Organizers announced the upcoming event, which draws inspiration from similar successful gatherings held in Kenya during the month of Rabi al-Awwal.

Anasheed, Islamic devotional songs, are highlighted as a crucial element, described as soul-soothing, a source of halal joy, and a natural expression of devotion to Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). The organizers stressed that this is not just about entertainment but also a platform for learning.

Various esteemed Sheikhs are slated to deliver teachings on different aspects of the Quran and Hadith, providing attendees with spiritual and educational enrichment. “Anyone who attends will witness a new form of Anasheed never seen before in Uganda,” stated the organizers.

The initiative aims to replicate the Kenyan model, where Muslims converge for events featuring Anasheed, Quranic recitation, and Islamic lectures. The Ugandan gathering is scheduled to launch this Thursday, September 19th, 2026. It will commence with Quran recitation by prominent Ugandan Sheikhs, followed by Maulid, which includes prayers and praises for the Prophet.

Organizers emphasized that Anasheed, beyond the foundational pillars of Islam, is crafted with a rhythm designed to encourage reflection, mental refreshment, and attentive listening. This event promises a unique blend of spiritual devotion and Islamic scholarship for the Ugandan Muslim community.
