Uganda Forges New Trade and Investment Ties at China Expo

Uganda’s delegation at the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen has reported significant success, generating numerous promising leads for both trade and investment. Several Chinese companies have expressed keen interest in investing in Uganda and importing Ugandan goods, with a particular focus on coffee.

The Consulate General of Uganda in Guangzhou is set to follow up on these leads, aiming to convert them into concrete business deals and investment outcomes for the Ugandan economy.

Beyond the main trade fair, Uganda’s mission also focused on strengthening Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) partnerships. Engagements with key institutions like Xiamen University and CATL, along with Xiamen Information Group and the BRICS Industrial Cooperation and Go-Global Comprehensive Service Hub, have opened doors for collaboration.

These discussions pave the way for technology transfer, joint training programs, innovation exchanges, and the commercialization of Ugandan technologies and products. The BRICS hub, in particular, has offered Uganda a valuable platform to showcase its investment potential to a wide network of enterprises, potentially attracting new foreign direct investment.

Uganda’s presence at CIFIT 2026 underscores its commitment to advancing its Economic and Commercial Diplomacy, translating international engagements into tangible opportunities for economic growth through trade, investment, and technological cooperation.
