PFF Condemns Security Blockade, Vows to Continue Bail Advocacy

The People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) has declared its refusal to be intimidated by the significant police presence that surrounded its offices on Katonga Road on Monday. The party alleges that this security cordon effectively thwarted a planned peaceful procession aimed at delivering a petition to the Chief Justice.

This petition was intended to address concerns over the denial of medical bail for prominent opposition figures Dr. Kizza Besigye and lawyer Erias Lukwago. The PFF claims that during the attempt to breach the security line, one of its activists, Maddo Isaac, was arrested and forcefully put into a vehicle.

In a statement, PFF Deputy Secretary General Kennedy Okello characterized the security deployment as an “abuse of power” and “lawlessness.” The party asserts that it had followed all legal procedures, notifying the Inspector General of Police a week in advance and requesting security coordination, not a shutdown.

“This blatant lawlessness and abuse of power will not silence us. We stand firm, and we shall not tire,” Okello stated, emphasizing the party’s resolve.

Party officials have indicated that their legal and executive teams are convening to strategize their response. The PFF views the heavy-handed reaction by security forces as evidence of the pressing need for their campaign against what they perceive as the “political weaponisation of bail conditions.”
