Over one hundred expectant mothers in Luuka District are now better equipped for childbirth thanks to a generous donation from Salam Charity Uganda. The organization distributed “mama kits,” packed with essential items, to mothers from various health centers across the district.

The beneficiaries expressed immense gratitude, with many stating they had previously struggled to afford or access these fundamental supplies. This initiative marks the first time some mothers have received such comprehensive maternity kits.

The Salam Charity team didn’t just distribute the kits; they also provided practical demonstrations on how to use each item, ensuring the mothers understood their purpose and importance for safe delivery.

Health workers in Luuka highlighted the challenges posed by the lack of basic supplies during childbirth, which can complicate the birthing process for both mothers and healthcare providers.

Abdussalaam Ali Kinobe, Country Director for Salam Charity Uganda, explained that this is part of ongoing efforts to support maternal health across the country. He thanked the organization’s supporters and urged others to contribute, emphasizing the significant need within communities.

Kinobe also took the opportunity to encourage expectant fathers to actively support their wives by accompanying them to antenatal appointments and providing crucial emotional and practical assistance throughout the pregnancy journey.

Furthermore, the mothers were advised to consult qualified health professionals, adhere to prescribed medications, and deliver at health facilities. This is to ensure the safety of both mother and child, especially in cases of complications, prioritizing professional medical care over traditional birth attendance.
