Vinka Donates Concert Proceeds to Mulago Hospital's Mothers and Children

Singer Vinka, real name Veronica Nakiyingi Lugya, recently visited the Paediatric Surgery Unit at Mulago National Referral Hospital to donate proceeds from her “Vinka Live & Loud” concert. The initiative, dubbed “Mother to Mother,” aims to support women and children facing medical challenges.

Vinka, accompanied by the Swangz Avenue management team, presented essential items such as diapers, baby wipes, maternity pads, blankets, soap, and Vaseline to mothers experiencing complications after childbirth and children undergoing treatment.

Beyond the material donations, Vinka spent time engaging with patients and staff, offering prayers and encouragement. She shared that her own experience as a mother inspired her to support others in difficult circumstances, acknowledging the emotional toll such situations can take on both mothers and children.

“As a mother, I know what a mother can go through after giving birth. I know what a child can go through, the depression, everything,” Vinka stated during her visit. She also extended a call to the public to join her in supporting mothers facing challenges during and after childbirth.

The artist was reportedly moved by the resilience of the mothers she met. One such mother, Atuzio Comfort, shared her experience of her baby’s jaundice treatment and expressed gratitude for the support received from the medical team, especially given a previous loss of a child.

Mulago National Referral Hospital expressed their gratitude to Vinka and Swangz Avenue for their generous contribution and visit, which directly benefited the mothers and children in their care.
