Uganda Welcomes Resumption of Indian Visa Services

Good news for Ugandans planning trips to India: all visa services have been reinstated. The announcement came from Uganda’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Adonia Ayebare, who confirmed that both e-Visas and regular visas are now available.

This resumption is a significant development, reopening doors for Ugandans traveling to India for essential reasons such as medical care, educational pursuits, and business engagements. The decision follows a period of diplomatic dialogue between the two nations.

Minister Ayebare expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, highlighting the strong diplomatic ties between Uganda and India. He specifically acknowledged the role of India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, in facilitating this positive development.

While visa services are back online, Ugandan travelers are reminded that public health protocols will still be in effect upon arrival in India. These measures typically include completing a self-declaration form, undergoing thermal screening, and adhering to health monitoring guidelines.

The resumption of visa services underscores the robust and multifaceted relationship between Uganda and India, which spans cooperation in trade, investment, education, and healthcare sectors. The two countries have maintained diplomatic relations since 1965, with India operating a diplomatic mission in Kampala.
