Rakai NRM Leaders Declare Support for Muhoozi's 2031 Presidential Ambitions

In a significant show of political backing, NRM leaders from Rakai District have thrown their support behind General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s potential bid for the presidency in 2031. The leaders voiced their belief in Gen. Muhoozi’s capacity to lead Uganda, following similar declarations from the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

During a local gathering, NRM officials, including Buyamba MP and Rakai District NRM chairperson Gyaviira Ssemwanga Kisoboka, signed a book of support. Ssemwanga stated that the decision was driven by “great hope” in Gen. Muhoozi, citing his perceived ability to safeguard national resources and address the concerns of ordinary Ugandans.

The leaders also commended Gen. Muhoozi for his contributions to protecting Uganda’s international image and assisting citizens in challenging circumstances. They highlighted his perceived leadership qualities as being suitable for the country’s top job.

Rakai Woman MP Juliet Ssuubi Kinyamatama echoed these sentiments, affirming that Gen. Muhoozi possesses “good intentions for Uganda.” She specifically credited him with playing a role in combating corruption and fostering peace and stability.

Other NRM figures present suggested that Gen. Muhoozi could be a catalyst for economic development, particularly in tackling youth unemployment and enhancing national security. They anticipate his leadership could unlock more opportunities for the youth and drive overall progress.

This endorsement comes at a time when political discussions surrounding Gen. Muhoozi’s presidential aspirations for 2031 are gaining momentum, coinciding with increasing scrutiny over President Museveni’s future political plans and the ongoing succession debate.
