Tooro Kingdom is meticulously preparing for the final farewell of its late monarch, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, with a comprehensive burial program set for Saturday, September 12, 2026. The organizing committee has finalized arrangements designed to honor the late King with the utmost dignity and adherence to cultural traditions.
Security has been heightened across the region, with specific protocol measures established to manage the proceedings smoothly. The official program will commence with a church service, followed by the solemn escort of the King’s body from Karuziika Palace to St. John’s Cathedral. This will be a significant moment for the kingdom, allowing subjects to pay their final respects.
Following the church service, the journey will continue to the Karambi Royal Tombs, the ancestral resting place for the Tooro monarchs. The committee, co-chaired by Dr. Richard Rwabuhinga, emphasized that every detail of the burial has been planned to ensure it is both official and deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of the Tooro people.
These arrangements aim to provide a fitting conclusion to the life of King Oyo, reflecting the respect and reverence the kingdom holds for its royal lineage. The community is expected to gather in large numbers to participate in the ceremonies and bid their final adieu to their beloved King.
