Two Sons Arrested for Allegedly Beheading Their 95-Year-Old Mother in Kagadi

Tragedy has struck in Kagadi district as two sons, identified as Bijja Peter and Insigoma, are in police custody for the alleged brutal murder of their 95-year-old mother, Angela Kabagenzi. The horrific incident is reported to have occurred on Saturday night.

Kabagenzi’s beheaded body was discovered on Sunday morning in a sugarcane plantation in Matuntu A village, Bwikara sub-county. The discovery sent shockwaves through the local community, prompting immediate notification of the authorities.

Investigators were aided by a police sniffer dog named Marshal, which was brought to the scene. The dog successfully tracked a scent from the plantation to the home of Bijja Peter, and then to Insigoma’s residence. During interrogation, Insigoma reportedly led detectives to the location where his mother’s head was recovered.

According to Christopher Buruge, the LC I chairperson of Matuntu village, the motive for the gruesome act appears to be a dispute over family land. Kabagenzi had recently undertaken a distribution of family land among her children, but the allocation reportedly led to protests from some, who deemed it unfair.

“The disagreement over the land could have triggered the attack on their mother,” Buruge stated, reflecting the community’s belief about the cause of the conflict.

Kagadi police responded swiftly to the initial report and launched an investigation that culminated in the arrest of the two brothers. The police are continuing their inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding Angela Kabagenzi’s death.
