Patricia Rose Turindwamukama, a resident of Bukoto I Parish in Nakawa Division, has been formally charged in connection with the death of her friend and roommate, Jovia Namuwulya. The incident allegedly occurred on the night of August 20, 2026, in the Mukalazi Zone.
According to the prosecution, Turindwamukama, along with an unidentified accomplice who is still sought by police, caused Namuwulya’s death with malice aforethought. The charges also include aggravated robbery, detailing the theft of an iPhone 12 Pro Max, a bag, clothing items, and a passport, with a knife allegedly used during the commission of the crime.
During her appearance at the City Hall Court in Kampala, the charges were read, but Turindwamukama could not enter a plea as murder and aggravated robbery are capital offenses outside the magistrate’s court’s jurisdiction. Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu advised her to seek bail from the High Court.
Prosecution requested that Turindwamukama remain in custody while investigations continue. She has been remanded to Luzira Prison until September 22, 2026, when the case will be mentioned. Police apprehended Turindwamukama on August 24, four days after Namuwulya’s death, at a friend’s residence in Mbuya. Preliminary investigations suggest she may have been preparing to travel to Iraq, having reportedly applied for a visa the day after Namuwulya’s alleged murder.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full details surrounding Namuwulya’s death and the subsequent robbery. The identity of the second suspect remains undisclosed as police continue their pursuit.
