16-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Kiboga After Dispute Over Relationship

Authorities in Kiboga District are investigating the perplexing death of Phionah Namukisa, a 16-year-old girl whose body was found in a coffee plantation on Friday.

Namukisa had returned home on September 2, informing her mother that she had begun living with a man named Joram Sserugo. This revelation reportedly angered some family members, who insisted she return home. Her mother, Jane Namaganda, sided with them and asked a younger girl to escort Namukisa back to Sserugo’s residence.

Upon her return, Namukisa encountered another woman, Resty Nantale, at Sserugo’s house. Sserugo explained that Nantale was his wife who had returned upon learning of his new relationship. He then arranged for Namukisa to stay at a neighbor’s home, identified as Master Ibra, while he sorted out the situation.

A confrontation allegedly occurred between Namukisa and Nantale before Sserugo intervened. The following morning, September 3, Namukisa reportedly left the neighbor’s home. Her body was discovered the next day in a coffee plantation owned by Noah Lwanga.

Police discovered injuries on Namukisa’s body and are examining their connection to her death. Joram Sserugo has been arrested and is in police custody as investigations continue. Police are seeking to determine the events that transpired after Namukisa left the neighbor’s house and if anyone else was involved.

Regional Police Spokesperson Lameck Kigozi urged parents to guide their children, even when disagreeing with their choices, emphasizing that emotionally driven decisions can lead to severe consequences. He also cautioned men against misleading young girls and engaging in relationships with minors, which can lead to dangerous situations.
