US Probes Allegations of Missile Strike on Iran Wedding

The U.S. military is currently looking into Iranian accusations that a missile strike resulted in casualties at a wedding in southern Iran. The Iranian Red Crescent Society reported that shrapnel from a missile struck a home in Sirik during a family wedding, leading to the deaths of at least four individuals, including two young children.

Iranian officials have labeled the incident a “war crime.” This comes as the U.S. confirms it fired missiles on the same day in response to alleged Iranian attempts to attack American forces. A spokesperson for the U.S. Central Command stated that civilian targets are never intentionally engaged.

Vice President JD Vance addressed the situation, calling the reports “extremely skeptical” due to the source of the claims. He noted that Iranian state media’s reporting on the ongoing conflict has been questionable. Despite his skepticism, Vance affirmed that the U.S. is actively investigating the matter.

In retaliation for the alleged strike, Iran has reportedly launched new attacks on U.S. bases located in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. The Iranian Red Crescent Society detailed that 67 people were injured in the incident, with a fifth death reported later in a hospital.

Local sources have identified the deceased as Zarkhatoon Taheri (50), Kolsum Mallahi Nazhdnia (43), Mohammad Mallahi (16), and Amirali Karimi (4). BBC Verify has corroborated video and image evidence showing the destruction of a telecommunications tower near Kuhestak’s coast and damaged homes in proximity to the site.

The conflict between the U.S. and Iran has been ongoing for over six months, following a joint operation by the U.S. and Israel against Iran on February 28th.
